Why?

Many people have asked why I’ve decided to pursue a career with Campus Crusade for Christ and subsequently, bypass many potentially lucrative careers in the field of psychology.  My answer is simply this: people need reconciliation.

We live in a world where brokenness prevails, injustice abounds, relativity rules, and shame immobilizes.  Our world suffers from great tension between who we are and who we long to be.  We are all dreamers.  We long for significance.  We desire to be something great.  We want to be known.  Yet, we find our dreams stifled, our significance shaken, our desires settled for mediocrity, and our lives masked.

We were created with longings far deeper than this world can satisfy.  Reconciliation.  Reconciliation between the people who settle for counterfeit satisfaction with the only One who can truly satisfy.  Here is life.

This is why I do what I do.  I want to serve as someone who points others to Jesus so that they may be reconcilied to the one true God.  I want to join college students in their spiritual journeys, wherever they are, giving them the opportunity to experience true life.

Students on university campuses face unique challenges during these four years of their lives that open wide doors for spiritual conversations.  Today’s college students are open, more than ever before, to embracing new ideas, philosophies and beliefs.  Question is:  Who and what is going to influence their decisions?  Is it going to be teachers of other world religions, the idea of secularism, professors teaching relativism, or will it be those committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Imagine if we were to impact the entire generation of students in the university classroom today.  Surely then, tomorrow, the entire world would have a chance to hear the gospel.

God has used Campus Crusade for Christ in my life, my friends’ lives, and millions of others’ lives around the world to reconcile people to Himself.  A great story – intricately orchestrated and transcending time & geography is taking place among us today.  Campus Crusade has been able to play a significant part in that story and my life fits in there somewhere.  As does yours.  What is your part in this grander story?
