FAQ

Some frequently asked questions I’ve encountered while raising support:

Q:  When will you be on campus?

A:  I’ll be able to report to campus once I reach 100% of my full support goal.

Q:  How is your support goal determined?

A:  Staff members’ support goals are determined by age, number of children and geographic factors.  Staff members may also raise funds for a retirement plan.  (To know more, please visit Campus Crusade for Christ’s donor relations page.  You can also find Campus Crusade for Christ’s 2008 Annual Report here).

Q:  How is your support divided?

A:  All support goes directly into my account, with the exception of 12%.  That 12% is divided into two categories: 7% going to administrative expenses (i.e., processing payroll, benefits, and other services), and 5% going to help fund Campus Crusade ministries in places overseas where staff find it difficult to raise support.

Q:  Who do I make checks payable to?  I find it easier to give online, am I able to do that?

A:  Please make checks payable to Campus Crusade for Christ – this will ensure your gift is tax-deductible.  You can certainly give online!  Click here to give directly into my account.

Q:  What will you be doing once you’re on campus?

A:  Once on campus, my job will entail many varying tasks, such as: regularly sharing Christ with students, spiritually mentoring Christian and non-Christian students, planning campus-wide outreaches, leading Life Group(s), coaching spiritually seeking students, plan & attend retreats and conferences, help equip Christian students in ministry skills, praying for & with students, helping to plan large weekly meetings, mobilizing Christian students for missions, preparing students to walk with God for a lifetime, serving the BGSU community, etc.

Q:  How did you decide to go on staff at Bowling Green State University?

A:  After much prayer and meeting multiple times with my regional Human Resources’ director, it was clear God has called me to BGSU.  With the combination of hearing about the specific ministry philosophy in place at BGSU, hearing about the need for more staff members there, being encouraged that my characteristic qualities would be a good fit at BGSU, and being convinced of God’s leading, I decided BGSU was it for me.

Q:  Where will you live once you’re on campus?

A:  I plan to rent an apartment (or house) off campus near the BGSU community with a roommate(s).

Q:  Why did you choose to work for Campus Crusade for Christ?

A:   I chose to work for Campus Crusade for Christ for many reasons.

-Campus Crusade played a significant part in my spiritual journey: Through Campus Crusade, I learned what it meant to be in a relationship with God, I developed a broken heart for those who don’t yet know Him, I grew in my leadership qualities/abilities, I was equipped and trained in how to share my faith effectively, I was challenged and held accountable, and I learned what it meant to share in true community with other believers — among even many more things!  Because God used Campus Crusade so significantly in my life as people poured into me, I want to be able to also pour into others, so that they, too, may grow in their relationship with Christ.

-God is clearly using Campus Crusade in BIG ways around the world: We have a ministry presence in over 190 countries (99.5% of the world’s population), there are over 25,000 full-time staff members worldwide (and more than 225,000 volunteers), in 2008 alone, 52.4 million students were invited to respond to the gospel (of those, almost 1.5 million students made a decision for Christ), and Campus Crusade has grown way beyond just the walls of the college campus (founding ministries such as, FamilyLife, Athletes in Action, Global Aid Network, Medical Strategic Network, Here’s Life Inner City, The Jesus Film Project, etc.).  According to USA Today, Campus Crusade for Christ is largest evangelical organization in the United States.

-College students are strategic:  College students are the future leaders of the world.  I’m convinced that if we can reach college students with the message of Christ, we can reach the world.  College students, today, are being trained and equipped for jobs that will lead the world.  Many of the college students we encounter are our future senators, CEO’s, teachers, business executives, counselors, world leaders, etc.  What if we could reach these students and see them come into a relationship with Christ?  They, then, would change the face of this world as they lead their peers into a relationship with Christ.  This world would look radically different.
